Chandertal Trek Himachal

Duration: 14 Days\13 Nights

Chandertal, also known as 'Moon Lake' is one of the most beautiful lakes in the region. Set on a large meadow between lower ridge and main Kunzum range, it offers excellent view of Mulkila mountain range and Samudra Tapu Glacier. The color of water keeps changing through out the day from reddish to orange to blue to emerald green as day passes.

Day 01: Arrive Delhi

Meet, assistance at airport and transfer to hotel. Afternoon combined city tour of Old & New Delhi. Overnight at hotel.

Day 02: Delhi - Chandigarh - Mandi

Morning transfer to station to board express train for Chandigarh. Upon arrival transfer to Mandi - 185 kms. Overnight at hotel.

Day 03: Mandi - Manali

Morning visit temples followed by excursion to Rewalsar lake. Depart for Manali - 120 kms. Overnight at hotel.

Day 04: Manali - Prini - Chikka

Drive to Prini - 10 kms. Here we meet our pre-arranged trek arrangements. The trail ascends passing through the villages of Prini and Sethen and then flatens untill we arrive Chikka - 2960 mts - 05 hrs walk. Overnight in camp.

Day 05: Chikka - Chhatru

The trail follows with steep ascend to the Hamta pass - 4260 mts. One can have the superb view of deo Tibba & Indrasan peaks over 6000 mts. With a steep descend, the trail falls into the Chandra valley. After traversing streams and cross Chandra river by rope bridge we arrive our camp at Chhatru - 3360 mts - 06 hrs walk. Overnight in camp.

Day 06: Chhatru - Chotadara

A gentle walk along right bank of Chandra river and opposite Chhota Shigri glacier with magnificent view of the mountains takes us on the Manali - Spiti road. After a short descend we arrive our camp - 3740 mts - 06 hrs walk. Overnight in camp.

Day 07: Chotadara - Batal

We walk along the river opposite to Bara Shingri glacier which climbes up to a dizzy heights and is more then a km wide and extending over a distance of 10 kms. Batal is situated at the foot of Kunzum pass which provides the main approach to Spiti from Lahoul valley.

Day 08: Batal - Chandratal

We follow the trail upwards till we arrive Chandratal lake ( The Moom Lake - 4270 mts). Set on a large meadow of edelweiss between a lower ridge and the main Kunzum range with an outlet into Chandra river. A beautiful view of Samundra Tapo glacier and of Mulkila range is obtainable from the camp. 05 hrs walk. Overnight in camp.

Day 09: Chandertal - Tokpo Gongma

This is an easy day walking on a flat streach. A good views of the mountains and glacier till we arrive our camp - 4400 mts. - 05 hrs walk. Overnight in camp.

Day 10: T. Gongma - Tokpo Yongma

This is an another easy day but have to start early to cross several mountain streams as they are low in the morning. Good camp ground - 4640 mts. Overnight in camp.

Day 11: T. Yongma - Baralacha La - Sarchu

Today trail is through high country streams with myraid streams following through green meadows. Ahead lies the high Baralacha pass. Drive to Sarchu. Overnight in camp.

Day 12: Sarchu - Leh

Depart for Leh - 235 kms over three high passes, Lachlang la - 5070, Naklila - 5025 mts and Tanglag la 5350 mts. Upon arrival transfer to hotel. Overnight at hotel.

Day 13: Leh - Manali

Morning transfer to Manali. Overnight at hotel.

Day 14: Manali - Delhi

In the morning after taking breakfast drive to Delhi. And group will drop to Railway station/Airport in Delhi.
